For our inaugural year of the program (2021), our recipient school is Uruegbe Primary School, Nimo, Anambra State, Nigeria which has a population of 300 pupils. Total cost for each high quality bag is N5,200.
On the continent of Africa, less than 50% of primary-age children are enrolled in schools. Of those, the majority do not have the facilities or wherewithal to provide students with proper education or materials. With the dire economic situation, parents can barely provide necessities, nutrition and educated support to help their kids thrive.
Most rural schools in Nigeria are neglected, in desperate need of essentials and their pupils under-educated. Due to penury, many pupils go to school bare handed without school bag or books.
Sebaus Foundation’s mission is to groom an empowered next-generation, via creating educational programs and providing key resources in underprivileged schools.
By operating transparently with the help of donors, sponsors and volunteers such as yourself, we enable direct donor-to-project giving, integrity and smart funds allocation with maximum impact. Your support towards the Backpacks for Kids program is needed as a great start to empowering them.
Every year a school will be selected and every student provided with a sturdy, high-quality backpack, creating a sense of ownership, hope for the future and a sense of pride in education, every day they trek to and from school.
They will be inspired, connected to other resources and motivated to strive for a better, brighter future beyond what their current situation.
Their bags will also come in handy in collecting future donations during the academic year, e.g. kids’ books, school supplies and more.
With the support of donors like you, this November all Uruegbe pupils (Nursery to Primary 6) will receive durable personal school backpacks and educational support over the year.
